Granted, obesity is a big problem in this country and there are obese people in every section of society. But why is it that there are a disproportionately large number of obese lesbians?

I think it is oposite!They are very femine,they take care of their body and have a gr8 taste!I am not lesbian but i know a lot lesbians and they are prettier and better looking of all heterosexual friends and people i know.American people are generally most fat on the world(without offence)

Weight problems tend to be characteristic of emotional problems and are NOT limited to lesbians or even just women as I’m sure you really know. Women get heavy from emotional issues that run the emotional/mental/physical gamut. But for lesbians, there’s another issue… imagine growing up in this society liking, wanting and desiring something that EVERYONE around you tells you is unnatural. You think that doesn’t fv@k with your head?
That’s just the emotional side of it. There is also the hormonal side of it. Some females are born with more male hormones than female, and this will also cause physical anomalies, size being one of them.
So please quit stereotyping people!

I don’t think I misunderstood your question at all. I stated that weight issues are not limited to lesbians AS YOU SURELY KNOW (I know you know this fact). Why a disproportionately large number of lesbians? I don’t think that’s true. I think that’s all you’re noticing. How do you know that all the thin girls you are seeing around you are in fact str8? You can’t always tell. But if it is a fact, then please note that I SAID… lesbians have an additional issue to deal with, that of being shunned and rejected by society for wanting what they want.
I mean, have you thought about that? You’re born into this world a perfect little girl. Or at least you think you are perfect like everyone else. And then you start expressing your likes and dislikes. Which the adults in your life start telling you is wrong/going to send you to hell/means you’re a pervert… whatever. Because you believe the adults in your life (hey, they made it to adulthood, they must know SOMETHING, right?), you start to think there’s something really wrong with you, and food becomes a silent partner. That’s the short version.
Not that thin people don’t have issues! Which is my last point. You are stereotyping lesbians. I’m not convinved that you actually know which thin women you meet are actually str8 and which are gay. You can’t know that just by looking.

I think you have your information screwed up. This country has a problem with obesity in general so how are you just gonna single out lesbians as being obese. And if some of them are it shouldn’t concern you now should it? Weight and sexuality have nothing to do with each other anyway.

I let myself go at one point. I think its a lack of confidence. Fear. I was in a relationsip that was not healthy for me by any means. I am out of it now and i have lost over fifty pounds. I dont know about other lesbians I just know what i went through and for me it was a lack of confidence and a lack of security and a fear of being accepted and at one point not caring if i did.
