What do you think would be some good activities / things to do in an open day in a lesbian organization ? Something light but still new and fun or challenging…
I should say that most of the participants or people who are coming are lesbians and only very very few are straight women.
In my experience, people in the process of coming out are often feeling a bit lonely. For them, the most important outcome of the day would be a chance to spend time with other people who will not judge them for being themselves. They may also have a lot of worries they cannot easily articulate, and will need easily-accessible information that reassures them about embracing a lesbian lifestyle. Finally, it is helpful for people to know that there is much to celebrate about becoming part of the lgbt community, which has included many famous writers, poets, scientists, artists, philosophers, etc.
Think of activities that can facilitate those things. How about:
- An hour of tea and board games (allows people to spend time together without having to talk about anything personal if they are not ready.)
- A few film screenings of lesbian films?
- a performance by a local gay choir, dance group, etc?
- a short reading of light-hearted lesbian poems
- a dance workshop
- lots of books, leaflets, etc that people can have a look at.
- a sale of lesbian novels and films
- information about local events and clubs people can go to, to meet other lgbt people.
- information about gay-friendly health centres, psychologists, holiday houses, etc
- some sensitive information about safe sex (I was terrified to ask anything at my school, I am sure many women feel the same.)
- a "coming-out story-telling", where you invite some confident women who are already out to share their experiences
Those are just a few ideas. Good luck with your open day, whatever you choose to do, I am sure this event will have a really positive impact on many women’s lives. I just wish I could have gone to your open day five years ago!

Just because the women are coming are lesbians, doesn’t mean that you have to plan "Lesbian" activities.
Just make some games/sports? Something like that.
