A Christian can call it sinful and declare (with the Bible) that it is hated by God without falling into the scorn category.
Second, if one does believe it is sin and hated by God, then out of love we ought to tell you. If we did nothing then that would be quite tragic.
Third, you are, however, correct that some Christians have simply used the Bible as a weapon for hate. It is often easier to see another person’s sin rather than our own. We would do well be to as careful in rooting out our own sin as we are in pointing out other’s sin to them.

Christians do love gays and lesbians, Christians just hate sin (but not the sinners themselves). Christianity helps people live better lives and homosexuals are welcome to experience the joy of knowing Christ and being a Christian — they just have to turn away from their sin. You should not be singling out Christians. You should be asking a more general question, why are people prejudiced? I can tell you the basic answer. Fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the different.
Why do kids in high school hang around in cliques, and make fun of nerds? Because secretly they fear them, and know that they’ll go further in life.
Hatred is taught early in school, and they just carry the habit when they get older. If you are young, you should try to make changes now, if you are older, you should teach your children not to make the same mistakes.

I am a Christian, but I do not “scorn gays and lesbians”. However, I do believe that we are all sinners and homosexuality is a sin. We teach that you are to love sinners but hate their sin. If we let people who are living a life of sin come into our fellowship, we are corrupting sometimes weak spirits. If you knew that someone was stealing or killing, wouldn’t you try to stop them if you wanted them to inherit eternal life? I’m sorry that some “Christian” has put a bad taste in your mouth for all of us.

Christians aren’t perfect, just like everyone else on this planet. And not all Christians scorn gays and lesbians, just like not all non-Christans do. The bible tells us to love the sinner, but to hate the sin. Sometimes, people just have a hard time distinguishing the two. That *doesn’t make it right* though. Jesus called us to love one another, and he would hang out with prostitutes, theives and the diseased (society’s lowest at the time). The problem is that Christians aren’t following the commandment to love one another when they scorn another.

Because Christians don’t always follow what is preached. Jesus would have welcomed a gay person with open arms. He wouldn’t have accepted their lifestyle, but he’d love them and be kind while telling them to turn from their ways. Too many Christians don’t know Christ.

I don’t really have an answer to this question because about 95% of people who actually believe what it says in the bible are hypocrites and liars. I do agree with your question though. I don’t like religion because I think it’s a bunch of crap that people tell themselves to make up for the fact that they don’t know how we actually got here. Believing that someone came here and created everything kind of sounds pretty fishy. I mean, we’re not supposed to believe in magic, are we?

because they pick and choose portions of the Bible they will accept and reject. They still take homosexuality as a sin, even though scientifically nowadays it is considered to be genetic and not a choice an adult makes.
There are sections in the Bible stating you cannot wear clothes of more than two fabrics, yet I doubt that is considered morally wrong anymore. Menstruating women were considered unclean, I would like to see them get on their high horse and try making that legally binding.
Homosexuals are determined at conception or at least very soon after, They contribute as much to society through taxation and work skills as any heterosexual person, they have the same vital organs, the same thought capacity and the same social and moral obligations as any one else. Therefore they are equal to the rest of society

To live a gay or lesbian life is not of God. But we are not to scorn those who are gay or lesbian, we are to love them as christ has indeed loved us. Most times it’s through our love that others can be brought to true healing in Christ.

It’s Gods warning. We love everyone. We don’t want to see anyone go to hell. We want everyone to have a chance to go to heaven. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of sexual perversions. We don’t want to see America end up the same way.

Great question. The answer is complex.
The Bible in multiple places states that homosexuality is a sin. (Obviously, it does not use that language)
That is the basis that many Christians “scorn” Gay and Lesbian people.
What they miss is that God considers all sins as equal. Yes, having same sex intercourse is a sin. But it is no worse a sin than having sex out of wedlock, or lying, or taking Gods name in vain. Jesus said we are all sinners.
Christians who scorn Gays are doing exactly what Jesus warned us not to do. To paraphrase Jesus, “Do not judge the sins of other, because you have plenty of sins of your own.”
In other words, none of us have a right to judge you, or what you do. What Christians should do is open their hearts and love the Gay and Lesbian, and try to show them the path to Christ through their love, not through their hate. God Bless.

good question – sadly, the good answer is they do interfere. The YMCA, you know the Young men’s *Christian* Association, is the biggest gay pickup bar on the planet. This tends to nark Christians.
Also, Christians trying to remain chaste until married will be politely declining offers of sex from the the opposite gender: which in modern society means you are immediately pegged as gay! A polite courteous Christian can’t go anywhere without being propositioned by homosexuals! Trust me, being pegged as gay makes you very homophobic very quickly.
The solution I suspect will actually come from the moderate feminists. After a long fight to find ways to avoid being constantly propositioned by men, they are in an ideal position to mediate a compromise between gays and Christians. (As for gay Christians – a different problem, but ultimately it’s between them and God. Not our business).

Being Gay is not a sin. It is like being left handed, or having blue eyes.
It is how some people are born.
Religion has created a society that is unable to accept that.
Everyone should try to be tolerant of others, and let people be who they are.
People are afraid to accept something different, and hide behind statements like “the bible says it’s wrong.”
The bible also says that women shouldn’t cut their hair, and speak out in church.
But, I dare say that most “christian” women cut their hair, and some even… GASP… speak out in church.
Try not to care what “christians” or anybody else thinks of you, and live your life as you see fit.
We do have freedom of religion, and that does mean ANY religion or NO religion if you choose, not just christianity.

Because Christians are stupid fucks who cant live their life by their own rules. All the bible is, is a system of control created by man to withstand order. I have nothing against gays and lesbians. I don’t think people should be judged at all. Because you christians say “god” created you. Therfore your flawed! He gave you free will, if its pissing him off so much that people are committing these “sins” then create a perfect being with no flaws!!! If not stop bitching about us not being perfect. Firstly it is biblically wrong, there are many instances where it is shown that God totally dislikes the act (not the persons). Secondly, there is the fact that two men or two women cannot procreate. Isn’t that sign enough that it isn’t right? How about the fact that gays and lesbians have sicknesses that are common to homosexuality? God does not want us to punish or scorn anyone, but we still do. What we should do is love the person but hate the sin, and what else we should do is let them be for God to judge, but try to tell them that what they are doing is wrong. Anyways, it is not everyone that hates those people, nor is it everyone that will tolerate the sodomy, so everyone should use a little discression, and a little prayer.
If you look in the answers here, you will also see bible verses that point tot it being wrong. A classic example of this vile act is in Sodom & Gomorroh. Look at what happened there and you can see why the act is bad, and why the people are looked upon as such. Not the fact that God torched the place as much as the fact that the men wanted to rape the angels (not knowing who or what they were) even though they were presented with virgins (Lot told them he would send out his daughters to the men, and they said they wanted the angels/men that were in the house and not the women). Once you reach a stage like that, there is no turning back, and probably no room for forgiveness.

True Christians, those who actually love Christ actually do what He says, not just say what He does. They really do pray for gays and lesbians. Christians don’t hate them, they just hate their act which is what God hates because it is against what His high and holy plan and purpose for man is. First of all, it isn’t healthy, normal or edifying to society which is freefalling into destruction at a Mack five rate. It teaches the youth confusion and that homosexuality is the norm. You cannot twist the Word of God just to cater to the sins of the flesh, that’s JUST NOT JESUS! But praying for them that God would touch and heal them and direct their hearts and minds from confusion to His understanding, that’s what God wants. The idea is to be on the same page with God, not vice-versa. God is Good, the devil is bad and one of the false notions the devil is flooding society with is that God hates all gays and lesbians which is not true. In fact, God loves all gays and lesbians as well as the drug-addicts, prostitutes, suicidals,gamblers, murderers and theives. For this reason Christ came…to seek and save the lost and in God’s eyes, gays and lesbians among the others listed are lost. They are away from His plan and purpose for their lives. You think God don’t see what’s going on here? He has made through Christ His Son, a way better plan for them and He uses those who truly has a heart after His own heart to love and pray for the hurting gays and lesbians. This lifestyle is a lie straight from the pit of hell and the devil knows this. He knows the plan God has for the gay and lesbian so he paints a pretty picture of a man loving another man or woman loving another woman in a sexual way as the answer and solution to their inner hurt, pain, rejection, suffering and confusion when really Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the only lifestyle that is appropriate and holy for God’s creation in His image. God wants nothing but the highest standard for mankind. What’s wrong with that?
