I’m trying desparately to tell her she’s not.. She thinks she’s going to hell because she’s a lesbian. I keep telling her that God would let us love who we want. And that love isn’t a sin… I can’t seem to get her to change her mind. Does anyone know what I can say..?

The Bible does say that homosexuality is an abomination and a sin. That is true. It also says that all sins are equal in the eyes of God. Therefore, being a lesbian carries the same weight as telling a lie. Depending on the denomination/religion she follows, there will be slight twists on this. Unfortunately changing someone’s beliefs is nearly impossible, unless they are your own, which is still nearly impossible.

Love is a beautiful thing whether it be homosexual or heterosexual. Your thinking is correct. Please try and be patient with her. A sin is only if you intentionally hurt someone. A gay friendly therapist may help. Good Luck!!!

She is not going to hell. You can’t really make her stop thinking anything – especially if this false doctrine that was created by the church to scare people.
The word “Hell” NEVER appears in the original Scriptures, neither in the Hebrew nor in the Greek. It is a mistranslation of FOUR different words, made by translators of the Bible who consciously or subconsciously were influenced by their preconceived theological beliefs.
Three words in the New Testament Greek are (incorrectly) translated “Hell.”
They are 1) Hades, 2) Tartarus, and 3) Gehenna
“Sheol”, “Hades”, and “Tartarus” HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH BURNING!
Don’t be afraid of the Lord. He LOVES everyone. He forgives our sins. Tell her not to worry, god will save her because everyone will be saved eventually. No one is going to hell because Hell doesn’t exsist.
