I think it just seems that way because of mens macho attitude. It may take either parent awhile to get used to, but if they truely love their child they will accept whatever makes them happy.

Men are wired to be more judgmental. That’s why (allegedly they might great leaders) Women bore the child. They bonded more easily because it’s the little life who grew inside of them. Men are hunters thus things tend to be more black and white in their world (generally). Women are nurturers and can accept things more calmly.

Mothers have a stronger bond with their children.We have a tendency to love our children no matter what.We carried them for 9 months in our bodies which naturally gives us a stronger connection.We just want our children to be happy.Men get angry easier and dont tolerate as much.They simply see something they dont like and are impossible to reason with.Its called their pride.

typically men were brought up to thinking “you cant cry, you cant ask for directions and you CANT be gay.”
ever since time has begun its been that way. Females are more open to this because theyre sensitive. Men usually lock things up. They try to be “macho” and “masculine” and being homosexual isnt exactly those two. Im not saying that homosexuals cant be macho or masculine, but its just how other men think.

not necessary true, perhaps heterosexual women are less sexually threaten by sexual preference than heterosexual men. Especially when a son is gay. Since men genetically determine the male sex of their children. and since gay men are perceive to be less than men in our society, having a gay son for some fathers is seen as a form of emasculation of themselves.

I don’t know if I would say mothers are more “accepting” than fathers, but I think that mothers tend to be able to look past things their children do a little more easily. We may not agree with our childrens’ choices at times, but we can go beyond what we may think is a mistake, and still see nothing but an unconditional love for our children.

I don’t think so..as a matter of fact my mom will kill me if she even thought i was homo…Anyway, i ithink it has to do with women & relationships….I think anyone will agree women are better lovers and as such suffer the most from “broken hearts”…the probable question then is: since they (men: pls no offense, i am generalizing)can not be faithful, why not try something else? The closest “something else” in my view will be either same sex or solitary…hence a likelihood to support (or atleast agree to an extent) with their child’s homosexual nature or belief…

Well hell the way I see it is… mother’s actually do the raising of the children and they have a differnt bond with their children then the fathers do. The men depend on the women to take care of the children while they work and do whatever they do. The mother knows that it is in the best interest of the family to be accepting of the child because she raised the child and she has to be supportive and encourage the child (adult ot not) to follow what they feel is right and will keep them in a healthy state of mind. And then there is a possibility that she feels responsible for it because she raised them.
My mother always called me a dyke as I was growing up . I grew up part time with her and the other part with my father. My father was a pimp and had all these women running round his house. I seen things I shoulda never seen in life at an early age. I grew very fond of females. I knew that I wanted to be with a female but i knew it would break my mom’s heart. YES I blame my father but f-it!! Soon as my mom passed away I came out the closet and I wish I would have done it 15 years ago. But if I did I wouldnt have my 2 beautiful children who are my life. W/o them I would have died when my mom passed. They give me the air i breath every second of every day and Im very greatful for that.

I believe it has to do with the natural role of males and females in families (not necessarily in human families; also can be applied to tribes of lions and other animals).
The father is generally the overseer and the protector of the family. Naturally, the male is charged with the responsibility to protect and secure the family/tribe from outside threats. Homosexuality is an abnormality and perceived by greater society as a shameful act. Hence, as the protector, no male would like to see shame being bestowed upon his family and, therefore, will have a harder time accepting the homosexuality of an offspring.
Whereas the mother is naturally charged with the responsibility of caring for the child (this responsibility extends from the act of bearing the child to utmost caring and teaching until the offspring’s adulthood). As a result, irrespective of the child’s behavior and other personal traits (inclusive of his/her sexual preference), a mother will care and love the child, even if that entails accepting a child’s homosexuality.
That is my take on it.
