Tina and Chris could be the tightest rhythm section in rock music. From their early demos and live sets for Talking Heads, to their recent set at Meltdown in London, their assured, intelligent funky beats are impossible to ignore. With reissues of unfairly forgotten Tom Tom Club albums coming soon, I thought I’d finally upload this cheeky video for Lesbians By The Lake, which I made in a haze sometime in September 2001. Busby Berkley is one of the great American golden age film directors and this sequence from a Carmen Miranda musical is filled with audacious swooping camera angles, oddly complimenting the brilliant Frantz -Weymouth electronica.
