I really don’t understand why Gays and Lesbians are angry with the organizers of the NY St Paddies day parade. why do the Lesbian and Gay organization feel they need to be in this parade. I am not a “homophob”, just trying to understand how a parade or celebration celebrating St. Paticks day has anything to do with an individuals sexual orientation, I really don’t care what you do in your bedroom, or who you date, or are attracted to, that is your business, just as my preferences are my business I don’t walk around with my preferences on my shirt, or feel I have to march in a parade stating my preferences, why do the G&Ls feel they must do that, or why are they angry when denied that, great your gay, congratulations, you are sexually or physically attracted to someone of the same gender, why does it need to be showcased in a parade? If I only like Asian women, do I insist on marching in the St. Paddies day parade in an organization of “Men That Love Asian Women?” Someone help explain?
They are protesting about being denied into the parade in NYC…The parade has an organizer (some organization) who gets the permit for the parade and then gets to say who can march in the parade, what organizations, etc., the ILGO was denied, along with some other group supporting immigration reform for undocumented Irish people in the US.
MEYOWMIX-
well, to compare Blacks being denied to march versus gays or lesbians is bit of a stretch…and trust me I tried to apply the way G/L’s might feel to how other groups might feel if denied….HOWEVER, to be gay or lesbian, is about your SEXUAL or PHYSICAL attraction, what does that have to do with being Irish, the bottom line is nobody cares nor does anybody want to know about someones sexual preference. They allow Irish firefighters to march as there own group, and you know what, I bet there are some gay firefighters, there is no need to start segregating people based on there sexual preferance, nobody cares what someone else does in there bedroom, but when gays or lesbians decide to segregate themselves in this fashion, they are saying that “Hey, you people this is what I do in my bedroom” so the orgnaizers of this parade likely think nobody cares what Irish people do in there bedroom and its not appropriate to showcase this, it is each individuals own business.
I guess I just like to assume that there are gay people in these other groups that are allowed to march. Just as I may see a white guy that may only date black chicks marching in a group of Irish police officers, I am likely to see a gay or lesbian Irish police officer, can i identify either, probably not…..so is it appropriate to start pulling people out into groups of there sexual preferance?, if so, why, do I really care what these guys do in there bedroom, do you think the rest of the population does? Is it really anyones business other than your own…
