I am curious as to other’s ideas. My ex-husband, a professional ethics prof, left me for one of his former students. She was then 20, he 36. We’s been married 13 years, together 15+ and it was very sudden.
She knew he was married, and she was in lesbian relationship living with lover; never been with man. Huge power differential, and she is still a student so he pays for all her living expenses in the apartment they share. She went from her female lovers place,where she dropped the bomb, to my ex’s new apartment in one day.
Part of me feels that it was a mid-life crisis, but he invested so much he can’t ever tell me so or apologize to me.
Thoughts? Know of similar prof/student relationships that worked long haul???
They have been together since July, 2004. He told me he was in love & leaving 6/28/05, got apartment, and she showed up and moved right in within a week (she couldn’t dump her partner until visiting out of town guests went home because she didn’t want their backlash for her deviousness.)
She is still an undergraduate student. I’m hoping she will leave upon graduation, thanking him for the free ride.

And yes, I’m still angry & bitter towards them. Teacher of ethics, indeed. But I know there are still lots of great guys out there.
Yes, these things sometimes can work. But the majority of the time IMHO they lead to truly unhealthy relationships. I’ve seen one work well, and numerous fall apart badly, because of the power differential.

Not offended at all. I want honest answers.
Oh, and he says he will NEVER remarry and once they got together he got a vasectomy so no possibility of kids. Shows a lack of trust on his part that she wont try to trap him.
